The clocks have gone back, which means it’s now dark ALL THE BLOODY TIME. We wake up in the dark, go to work in the dark, have what feels like all of 5 minutes of light, then it’s dark again before we know it. During these darker afternoons and evenings, lighting is crucial whether you’re working or getting cosy.
As you’ll know by now if you follow me on instagram (@calliepettigrew), at the start of this year, I gave up buying clothing that wasn’t sustainable or ethical. I felt this was an important thing to do for many reasons.
Since then, I’ve made much more considered choices when buying anything new, living with a more curated capsule wardrobe. Of course I haven’t completely cut out buying clothing, but when I do, I make sure it’s from brands that are completely transparent with their supply chains, and that the specific items will fit easily into my existing wardrobe.
Hi. I’m Callie and I’m obsessed with buying plants. Not sure how it all began but one day I started buying them and now I can’t stop (much to Sam’s distress might I add). If I’m totally honest, I’m no plant expert and still haven’t ~completely~ figured out how to keep them all alive, but for the most part I think I’m doing a pretty good job. It can be hard to keep track of what needs watering when, am I right?
This is a new series that I am starting here on the blog - ‘The Best of’. In this series I will find all the best interiors category by category so that you don’t have to! I’m really excited about this series so if you have any suggestions of particular categories you’d like to see please leave them in the comments.
We’re starting with minimal plant pots and planters. A good plant pot can be hard to find… yet something that most of us are in regular need of (don’t know about you but I can’t stop buying new plants and doubt that will stop anytime soon). For those of you who are into all things minimal, this ones for you! A selection of the best minimal and good quality plant pots and planters out there, in a range of prices (they don’t all have to break the bank!). I have included a few in this list that are at a slightly higher price point. These are aimed at your larger plants.
So… You’ve got 24 hours to spend in Hong Kong. For starters, prepare yourself for the fact that it just is not long enough! I grew up in Hong Kong and can seriously vouch for how incredible the city is. I try to go back whenever I can, but it’s never nearly as often enough as I’d like. Last month, I was lucky enough to stop over for 24 hours.
Here’s some suggestions on how you can make the best use of your time…
It’s finally live! After what feels like months and months of writing, editing and uploading I am so happy that my website is finally done! I mean, for now, until I decide to add or change something else! So exciting to see it all come together after hours and hours of work (I now understand why people hire someone else to do this for them).
